This breed was known in Europe for at least 400 years, but its true origin is uncertain. It possibly derived from the Hungarian water dog and the Barbet. France is recognized to be the country of the breed’s origin and today such dogs are very popular there. The standard poodle puppy can be viewed on most sites with dog photos.
